I'm still here!

Wow - this blog has been seriously neglected.

I think I stopped blogging when my craftin' time became quite limited due to work. I decided if I spent more time actually making cards, instead of posting about making cards and spending time reading all the craft forums and blogs -- I'd have plenty of time to be creative.

Currently, I don't belong to any groups -- even though I really miss chatting with all the ladies originally from MMFY, then later The Shaker Box. RIP, Shaker Box. I haven't visited Splitcoast Stampers in months. I guess I'm just out of the loop. I can promise ya -- I've been making lots of cards! I don't need to look at any sites for inspiration -- I have SO many ideas it makes my head hurt.

The blog needs a make-over. I'll be posting about the adventures of a 28 year old girl, who left her full-time job to go back to College.

Penny & Windshield Wipers!

I want to share this funny video of Penny, the most wonderful dog in the world. We've had Penny for about 5 months. She doesn't have any of those annoying little dog qualities - like barking. She rarely barks -- until you turn on the windshield wipers, then she goes CRAZY!

I've made a couple trips to Personal Scrapbook in Allen for A Muse stamps. She even special ordered a few stamps for my friend and I. She's getting a shipment of My Favorite Things stamps in next week - YAY! Here are a few of the cards that I've done with my new rubber.

I'm not one to take classes or go to crops - I prefer to work alone. However - I just saw that Scrapbook N Such is having a 4 hour Copic class next Saturday. Scrapbook N Such is in Longview, TX -- about 2 hours away from Dallas but it's the town that my grandmother lives in. My mom and I were already going out there next weekend to visit, so I thought I'd squeeze in a little class to make sure I'm getting the most out of all these markers I've been obsessed with purchasing.

Hey there! I finally got a chance to play with the Making Memories-Sabrina paper that I fell in love with. You can NEVER go wrong with Pink & Black!

I picked up a 1 1/4 square punch on clearance this weekend at Hobby Lobby for $3.99. Sure beats using my nesties for a quick and easy card like this one.

This paper BEGGED to be used along with SU's Top Note die!

Spent the entire weekend at my folks house. They've got some major renovation going on! The whole house is being done in beautiful 20 x 20 tile! Goodbye Carpet! Perhaps the cards I made were inspired by all the tile work being done.

I've got to include some pics of Miss Penny! She had such a blast hanging out with Chris and I.

This is one of the things I accomplished this weekend with a puppy in my lap. I made 3 banners and 4 cards this weekend. March is a busy month with birthdays @ my store. My employees love getting handmade stuff and I've had several of them tell me that they save everything I make for them. Awwwwww! Also, Chris' birthday is this month AND the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade (read: massive public consumption of alcohol on Greenville Avenue.) Thank goodness we've got this extra hour of daylight now!

Are ya jealous? Look at my beautiful flowers & card from Jenn!

Today is the first day of my week long vacation. My box full of goodies from PaperTreyInk arrived just in time! Just waiting on a few goodies from Stampin' Up -- I finally caved and bought the Top Note die.

I'm going to start working on some cards to St. Patrick's Day and a bunch of bday and thank you cards to add to my stash. I'm off to the work table!

Did you know that I'm obsessed with vintage/antique lamps? If I counted, I've probably got 15 in my apartment. I've been known to buy lamp rewiring kits by the arm load and am on a never ending mission for lamp shades.

Just showing my lovely pink flowers I received from Chris for Valentine's Day. I prefer any flower that lasts a LONG TIME. I've had these for a week now and they look just as great as when he surprised me with them. Notice, another lamp in the background.

I finally put away all the Xmas decorations EXCEPT for this little pink tree didn't want to be put away until next year. In addition to my collection of lamps, I love hobnail milk glass! I used a vase to hold the tree and make it become of an accent and less of a xmas tree.

Hope everybody had a special Valentine's Day! My sweet boyfriend bought me some pink daisies and chocolates, even after I told him to NOT buy me anything. I went to lunch this afternoon with my folks - YUM! Chineese! After lunch, we went to Michael's -- where we found some new $1 wood stamps. Also picked up a 8x8 pack of Making Memories - Sabrina paper. It was made just for me -- PINK!

The card above was one of the many cards I made for my co-workers to give to their spouses for V Day. I had several requests and got to make the cards with them in mind. The cute paper and heart embellishment are from the GREAT V-day swap from my girl, Jenn. I tell ya Jenn...I almost used up EVERYTHING! (Background on the card is a dark purple..not black)

Still on the search for a rescue weimaraner. We've submitted the application and are waiting to be approved before they will start matching us up with dogs. I'm really, really, really excited!

Chris and I ran to Arlington to see the Weimaraner Rescue "Meet the Dogs" at Orvis. Lucy, our sweet family dog, passed away almost 2 years ago and I think my folks are finally ready to get another dog. I fell in love with one adorable girl, Junie Moon. She was really loving and laid back. While I was petting her, she decided to just go ahead and stretch ALL the way out on the entrance to the store on a busy, Saturday afternoon. Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure!

Hey fellow card makers! I just hit up OfficeMax's awesome clearance aisles tonight at 2 different locations. I bought 900 assorted colors A2 envelopes for $25! I would have paid full price -- it would have been close to $200. I won't have to buy envies for a long, long time now!

I really love this pic of Chris & I -- thats why I scrapped it for one of my submissions to a Guest DT Call. Scrappin' is SERIOUSLY stepping outside my comfort zone. I'm MUCH more comfortable with stamps & cardstock but it was fun! I've remembered exactly WHY I don't apply to DT Calls - I don't like rejection. But don't worry, I'm not gunna go jump off of a bridge.

I picked up an awesome zebra background stamp from Stamp Camp at the stamp show. I'm so thrilled to think that I can make whatever color of zebra paper that I want.

Gotta give a shout-out to Danielle! So nice to see ya at the show. My mom was thrilled that she finally got to meet you guys!

I just LOVE this heart with wings stamp - also from Stamp Camp. You can't see from the pic but I also used some stickles on the wings and crown for a little bling.

Chris takes such great pics of us. If you look closely, you'll see a magnetic hello kitty bulletin board right behind me. I'm sad the weekend is almost over! It'll be back to the daily grind.

It felt soo good to make a card -- with stamping only!

I picked these up this weekend at the stamp show. I felt like I really needed a pretzel stamp with a funny sentiment. TooMuchFun Rubber stamps had lots of funny ones. I also picked up Stamps Well With Others, My name is ________ and I'm a stamp-a-holic, Drink Coffee - Do stupid things faster with more energy.

Popped the pretzel up on some pop-dots. Now I'm hungry for one!

Had a great NYE in Waxahachie with chris, bryan, catherine, and my folks. The boys did their annual firework explosions -- thankfully, nobody lost fingers. There were several empty bottles of wine this morning. There was NYE crop @ MMFY -- which I participated in, in spirit, due to all the ... festivities. I did play in one of the challenges today -- sponsored by Linda.

I received a cute xmas card and some adorable stamps today from my stampin' friend, Rox-Ann. What a nice surprise! You really made my day and I can't wait to ink 'em up!

Chris & I spent the weekend at my folks house, cat sitting. Upon my parents return, Baby Kitty decided she'd check out the overnight bag.

Santa went ahead and let me open & use my NEW pink OTT Light. It's such AMAZING light to work under -- even in the middle of the night. It'll also help me take great pics with more natural looking light at any time of day.

Santa also brought me the rest of the Cuttlebug folders I've been wanting. I LOOOVe the snowflake one! I'm so glad I got the Cuttlebug -- it gives such a WOW! factor. Thanks Mom..I mean, Santa.

My mom picked up a TON of vintage rick-rack at an estate sale for 25 cents! It was all still new in the package and from the 40s. The original price on each pack was 8 cents -- and now it's like $3/pack.

I also received a *VERY* generous Xmas check from my grandmother -- so looks like I'll probably be purchasing a little something from Zales that I've had my eye on.

Weekend Update!

This is our fluffy kitty, Tinkerbell. She's a mess - LOL - but ohsosweet.

We made friends with a stray cat this weekend that my folks have been seeing around the house. She let me pick her up and was welcoming the petting and attention. We fed her and put out some nice warm blankets on the porch for her and she spent the night curled up on the patio. I think it's funny that strays always find our house..I think they can tell we are animal lovers.

I got to try a new Tim Holtz technique! I had seen him demo this in October and was just recently reminded of it when I was checking out his 12 tags of Christmas on the blog.

You put several drops of alcohol ink in each spot on the artist pallet and let them dry completely. Then you fill your water brush with the alcohol blending solution -- which reactivates the dried alcohol ink and there ya go! I used this technique to add a little color to some adorable snowflake embellies that I purchased this weekend. Check it out below. Someone who reads my blog AND loves the color purple has this card en route to her house.

And we got home from my folks house --- and my car has a COMPLETELY flat tire! GRRRR! Luckily -- my store is on the way to Chris' office -- so I can hitch a ride to work with him :) Thats all for now -- have a great week!

Birthday Crop @ MMFY

I participated in the challenges at the MMFY birthday crop this weekend.

I did 2 of Vicki's challenges. One of them was to make a Mini Book -- it's a bit smaller than 3 x 3.

It was super quick to make and turned out pretty cool. I finally got to use my new TH game stamp. The second challenge of Vicki's was to make an INCHIE. Incase you don't know what an inchie -- it's a 1 x 1 mini work of art. I'll admit that this was my first one and I can totally see how they can be addicting. We will be having an INCHIE swap after the holidays. Here's my INCHIE:

I'm totally loving my new stamping toys! I *finally* got the SU scalloped border punch. Love, Love, Love it! Did I say how much I love it? I can't believe that I waited *SO* long to order it. What's cooler than a scalloped border punch? Say it With Scallops along with the coordinating scalloped square punch! How many times have I used the word scallop so far?

I'm even more excited about the Curly Label Punch Bundle that's on it's way to me.

I'll get caught up this week with everything that happened last week. That includes my work trip to New Orleans where I was among the 10k Starbucks partners taking over the city and stumbling down Bourbon Street nightly. Pouring wine @ the Addison Wine Fest with Robin and discovering my love of German white wine. Last but not least -- a pretty uneventful Halloween. You can probably tell from the pic that I discovered a fun feature on Picasa "Focal B&W." Fun Times!

Tim Holtz!!?!

I had a freakin' blast getting to see Tim Holtz in action at the new Michael's in Hurst today. He's AMAZING! He's sooo nice and sooo inspiring -- it's NO wonder that everybody LOVES him. My boyfriend had an awesome time watching him in action -- he kept asking me -- "do you have that tool? how about the mini misters? you wanna get some grungeboard?" I snapped a cute pic of Chris doing a make-n-take with one of the Ranger dudes -- who had a HOT accent :) So, maybe once I'm not soo star struck I'll be able to post about all the sweet Tim & Ranger products I bought today AND the sweet Hello Kitty Sixxix die :)

I was chosen as October guest DT @ MakingMemoriesforYou! I received some awesome COFFEE stamps to work with from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. I love that her stamps are unmounted red rubber -- there's nothing better than cutting into some rubber! I love the feel and smell! Check out the set I received..how perfect is

I bought a Cuttlebug this weekend because I decided that I couldn't live ANY longer with owning the embossing folders! I got a great deal b/c they were on sale at Joann's and then I got 50% OFF the sale price because it was an opened return. The reason it was returned was the person didn't know about the dies leaving cut marks on the plates and thought it was defective. YAY for me :) $30 Cuttlebug! So, I bought a bunch of folders and ordered some online. My next thing will be to start collecting Nestibilies because I can't live without these either.

I made something totally cute with the help of my swiss dots folder. I used an acrylic Maya Road shape -- ran it thru the Cuttlebug -- attached some October Sky houndstooth paper & hello kitty decal with Ranger's glossy accents -- attached an eyelet and lots of ribbon. This is hanging on my laptop bag! I can't wait to make more of these!

Matchbox Swap!

I participated in a matchbox swap on MMFY. It was the big matchbox -- that holds 250 matches. I have to tell ya -- this is the BEST swap I've ever received! It's everything I would have bought for myself -- put in the cutest little box. I'm going to show some pics so you can see all my super cool goodies. Yes! Last weekend I did 10 8x8 layouts -- awesome, huh? This coming from the girl that used to say -- I'll never scrapbook, I don't see the point. It's pretty fun and gives me excuses to buy more paper! One thing I'll say about scrapbooking versus cardmaking/stamping -- I sure did have a bigger mess on the floor. Paper scraps EVERYWHERE.

I participated in an chat tonight with the ladies from Midnight Oil Scrapbook Designs on a new site I just joined -- Memories from the Attic. They did a couple give-aways and I won some super cool Stick-On Monograms! Yay - Good Times!

I've been frequenting The Crafty Scrapper forums lately. I love their store and go every time I'm in Waxahachie. I decided that I should actually introduce myself and become a more "social scrapper." I've signed up to do a swap with them -- and I might have been convinced to attend a crop. I didn't think that I'd enjoy chatting -n- creating with folks until I made some cards last week with my boss, her mother, and one of my friends. It was fun playing "show and tell" with the tools & supplies we had. So, if you see me packing up my tools, inks, paper -- I might be headed on down to The Crafty Scrapper!

I'm off to bed -- I must get my sleep so I can serve caffeine to the masses in the morning!
